Phillip Shaibu, former Deputy Governor of Edo State and current chairman of Bendel Insurance FC, a Nigeria Premier Football League ( NPFL) side has expressed his confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to qualify for the World Cup.
Speaking in Abuja, Shaibu revealed that he had spent 20-21 hours with the team in Libya, bonding with the players and understanding their mindset.
He was impressed by their commitment, fire, and desire to succeed.
Shaibu emphasized that the players’ mentality is critical to their success, and that they have a winning mentality.
He cited a conversation with Moses Simon, who expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to beat their opponents convincingly.
Shaibu believes that with the right environment and welfare, the Super Eagles will not only qualify for the World Cup but also excel in the tournament.
He urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to prioritize the players’ welfare and provide them with the necessary support.
With the Super Eagles facing crucial matches in March, Shaibu’s confidence in the team’s ability to qualify for the World Cup is a welcome boost.
2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers , Super Eagles are in Group C, alongside South Africa, Benin, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and Rwanda.
He is currently the Chairman of Bendel Insurance FC and Edo Queens FC.
