Phillip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State and current chairman of Bendel Insurance FC, has expressed his excitement about the team’s remarkable turnaround, stating that they have “just woke up from slumber.”
According to Shaibu, the motivation behind this resurgence is the fact that they have “taken the club back” with the support of the governor, who has asked him to continue as chairman of both Bendel Insurance FC and Edo Queens FC.
Shaibu credits the team’s revival to his collaboration with the Sports Commissioner Chairman and Mrs. Sabina, stating that “the three of us are back to revive the club.”
This has been instrumental in driving the team’s success.
The governor’s support has been crucial in helping the team “take back” the club.
He also expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) for reinstating their points and recognizing that Bendel Insurance FC is not a “law breaker.”
The team’s reorganization includes reinstating welfare packages and improving security measures, which Shaibu claims have always been a priority.
He highlighted that Bendel Insurance FC has the best security network for match days, and the recent incident was just an anomaly.
Shaibu also praised Edo Queens FC for remaining unbeaten and aiming to repeat Bendel Insurance FC’s feat of the last two seasons.
He hopes they’ll win the African Women’s Championship League for the first time in Nigeria’s history.
With Bendel Insurance FC’s resurgence, Shaibu is optimistic about the team’s future prospects and is committed to continuing his support for the team.
