…As Commission boss expresses delight on team’s winning mentality
Defending Champions of the Nigeria Women Football League NWFL 2023/24 premiership season , Edo Queens Football Club of Benin are set for the battle of Ayimba on Wednesday February 19th, 2025 as they file out against Confluence Queens of Lokoja in NWFL match day 06 of the ongoing premiership campaign.
Edo Queens who have made a very good start since the beginning of the new season, will be aiming to carry in their excellent form when they face Confluence Queens of Lokoja in the battle of Ayimba this Wednesday by 4pm.
Standing second on the log with 11 points from five matches, the team must play their hearts out against the host team to score more goals enable them regain their top spot on the table.
Confluence Queens have not been so wonderful this first half of the new season. Holding the Moses Aduku – led Red – hot Edo Queens will be difficult. For the Benin ladies, every game is a battle and the girls are ready to improve and be better as they set their eyes on another away win.
Though no push over in modern day football, but Confluence Queens ladies have not gotten what it takes to stop the Ancient City based ladies from pushing their premiership tittle race forward.
Edo Queens have always had an upper hand each time both teams tackle each other. The Senator Monday Okpebholo, girls have confidence that come Wednesday 19th, they will waste no time in seeing off Confluence Queens land ladies right on their home ground.
As one of best motivated women team in Nigeria, Edo State Sports Commission Chairman Hon. Desmond Enabulele, has expressed delight at the team’s winning mentality.
Addressing the players after their 2-0 bashing of Nasarawa Amazons last Wednesday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin, Hon. Enabulele charged the players to continue with their top form adding that a win on Wednesday will give them a better chance of topping the group.
“In a football sense, we started well,
and we will end well. The State government will continue to give the necessary supports that will help us succeed in our dream. Our target is to retain the NWFL premiership title that we won last season and go to continental again.
We expect the best from you as you go to Kogi State. Three maximum points will do us a great honour. I wish you all the best of luck”.
