Nigeria showcases AI-Driven public service revolution at global summit – Walson-Jack

Nigeria has taken a bold step towards public service transformation with the unveiling of ‘Service-Wise Generative Pre-trained Transformer

(GPT)’, an AI-powered assistant aimed at revolutionising governance and service delivery.

Mrs Eno Olotu Director Information and Public Relations in a statement on Tuesday said, the innovation was introduced by Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, at the 2025 Global Government Summit held in Singapore.

 

In her presentation, titled ‘Model Behaviour: How to Govern with AI, Empowering Governance with AI: Nigeria’s National AI Journey and Service-Wise GPT Insight”, Walson-Jack outlined the country’s forward-thinking approach to adopting artificial intelligence for governance.m

She highlighted the draft National Artificial Intelligence Strategy developed by the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, emphasising its potential to boost both national and global economies.

According to her, Service-Wise GPT is a user-friendly AI tool designed to transform public service operations.

 

The platform, currently in its Beta stage, HOS explained that it could provide instant access to Public Service Rules, Statutory Instruments, Regulations, Guidelines, and other essential resources tailored for civil servants.

She noted that the platform would automate routine tasks such as policy drafting and memo preparation, offering real-time policy research assistance.

This, she said, would save time, enhance compliance, and improve overall productivity in the Federal Civil Service.

“Service-Wise GPT is set to reduce administrative task hours, promote faster decision-making, and ensure improved service delivery across ministries,” Walson-Jack said.

The Head of Service also shared findings from a 2025 study, revealing that 73 per cent of civil servants using the tool reported saving 2 to 3 hours daily, with 90 per cent recommending it for its efficiency and accessibility.

 

Walson-Jack described Service-Wise GPT as a testament to President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to leveraging technology under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

 

She reaffirmed the government’s dedication to an efficient Federal Civil Service as a driver of national development.

“The unveiling of Service-Wise GPT underscores Nigeria’s role as a leader in innovative governance, paving the way for sustainable and inclusive development through technology, ” said Walson-Jack.
