Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, has thrown his weight behind newly appointed Super Eagles coach, Éric Sékou Chelle, affirming the NSC’s support for the Franco-Malian tactician.

Dikko expressed satisfaction with the recruitment process, noting that football has the unique ability to unite Nigerians and bring them immense joy.

He assured that the NSC will provide the necessary support to ensure Chelle has a conducive environment to excel in his role.

Dikko also emphasized that the task of securing a World Cup ticket is a collective responsibility, with the government committed to providing resources without interfering with the NFF’s responsibilities.

He wished Chelle the best of luck in his new position.

Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) on Monday unveiled the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles at the Media Conference Room of the Moshood  Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The newly appointed tactician, Jose Peseiro’s successor, Chelle, has penned a two-year deal, with a potential one-year extension if he successfully qualifies the Super Eagles for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Chelle will be joined by three assistants, and together, they will collaborate with the existing team to elevate the Super Eagles’ brand.
Notably, Chelle’s role with the Super Eagles B team, currently preparing for the 8th African Nations Championship, will be limited to supervision.
