The stage is set for teams from the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kwara State to compete for a ₦1 million prize pool at the maiden Sardauna U-16 Football Cup.
The tournament is scheduled to hold from January 27 to February 5, 2025, at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
The competition, organized by Ultimate Sports Consult in partnership with the Kwara State Sports Commission, aims to honor Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his outstanding contributions to sports development since assuming office five years ago.
Speaking at the unveiling of the trophies and draws, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Owolabi Wopa, CEO of Ultimate Sports Consult, expressed commitment to making the competition an annual event. He assured that adequate medical and security measures are in place to ensure a smooth and hitch-free tournament.
He noted that apart from the cash prizes for the top three teams of 500k for the first, 300k for second and 200k third respectively, the following individual awards will be presented:Most Valuable Player (MVP),Highest Goal Scorer and Best Goalkeeper.
The Sardauna U-16 Football Cup is a platform to discover and nurture young talents across Kwara State while fostering unity and sportsmanship among the LGAs. Fans are encouraged to attend and cheer for their teams in what promises to be an exciting tournament celebrating the future stars of Kwara football.
