AGARA ELECTED 1ST VICE PRESIDENT OF UFAK REGION 2

In a decisive victory, Hon. Silas Ali Agara, President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria ( KFN), has been elected as the 1st Vice President of the Union of African Karate Federation (UFAK) Region 2.

The election took place during the 22nd UFAK Region 2 Karate Championship, held in Abidjan, Cote Ivoire, from December  16-22, 2024.

Agara secured 6 votes, surpassing the President of Benin Republic Karate Federation, Mr. Rock Quenum, who received 4 votes. Two votes were invalid, and one was abstained.

As the newly elected 1st Vice President, Agara will serve a 4-year tenure, working closely with the UFAK Region 2 President and other executive members to promote karate development in West Africa.

Shihab Jegede, the Technical Director KFN, said this  achievement is a testament to his dedication to the sport and his leadership capabilities.

“ As President of the KFN, he has been instrumental in promoting karate in Nigeria and West Africa.

“ Agara’s election has been hailed as a victory for Nigerian sports and a recognition of the country’s contributions to karate development in Africa,” he said .

 Agara expressed his gratitude to the UFAK Region 2 members for their trust and confidence in him.

 “I am honored to serve as the 1st Vice President of UFAK Region 2. I pledge to work tirelessly to promote karate development in West Africa and to support the growth of the sport across the region,” he said.

As the newly elected 1st Vice President of UFAK Region 2, Agara is expected to play a key role in shaping the future of karate in West Africa.

His priorities will include promoting karate development, increasing participation, and enhancing competitiveness in the region.

With his election, Agara has become a prominent figure in African karate, and his leadership is expected to have a positive impact on the sport across the continent.

Agara’s impressive background includes serving as the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State and holding various positions in sports administration .

“ His commitment to promoting Karate and sports development in Nigeria and Africa has earned him recognition and respect in the sports community.
