Niger Tornadoes Suffer Slim Defeat against  Abia Warriors

Niger Tornadoes surrendered all three points to Abia Warriors in an NPFL Match Day 16 encounter at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday .

Majin Mohammed’s side failed to find their rhythm in the early stages of the game which could be attributed to a tactical tweak in the team’s lineup as they missed the coordination of Victor Okoro who failed to make the trip with a minor sickness and Papa Daniel who is presently in CHAN Eagles’ Camp.

The visitors went ahead 21st minute on the clock courtesy of Anthony Ijoma who spotted Enaholo out of his line and cleverly powered a shot that sailed into the net for the first goal.

The Ikon Allah however pushed for an equaliser before the break but proved abortive.

The game restarted for the second period and Tornadoes continued to push for an equaliser. Ernest Onyeka came close to restoring parity when he recieved Williams Sunday’s pass on edge of the box and brilliantly hit it but his effort unluckily crashed the cross bar.

The hosts double their lead through Paul Samson off a blistering counter attack at 56th minute.

The Ikon Allah Boys were presented with a chance to reduce the tally via a scramble in the box, Joseph Godstime had an option to pass but chose to shoot, the goalkeeper however managed to have a hand on his ball as it goes out for a corner kick.

Niger Tornadoes eventually reduced the tally as the hosts bowed to pressure when a defender committed a punishable foul inside the box just at the death as the referee blew for a our first penalty of the season

 

. Ahmed Family smartly converted from the spot to end the tie 2-1.
