……As Amazons were rewarded with a cash prize of Ten Million Naira(N10,0000,000.00) by the Governor for their outstanding achievement.
The Management of Nasarawa State Women’s Football Team, Coaches, Players and the Backroom Staff on Wednesday presented the Besty Obaseki Women Football Pre-season Tournament Trophy and medals to the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State,Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, at the Government House.
The trophy, which was won by the state women’s team, Nasarawa Amazons FC in October, during the 4th edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT), 2024, that took place in Benin City, Edo State.
The team played seven matches during the competition and won all her games without losing any one.
Speaking at the event, the Chairperson of Nasarawa Amazons, Hajiya Husaina Sulieman Nagogo, appreciated the Executive Governor so much for the love he has been showing on the team, and also made some vital requests on the things that the team lacks, which according to her the Governor in his benevolence will definitely attend to them.
In his response, expressed happiness and congratulated Nasarawa Amazons for always making the state proud by winning the Besty Obaseki Women Football Pre-season Tournament, and also for bringing the trophy to Lafia.
Special recognition was given to coach Christopher Danjuma Musa, who doubles as the chief coach of Nasarawa Amazons and U20 Women’s Team, the Falconets by the sports loving Governor of the State.
Governor Sule, also recognizes coach Yahaya Audu, who also doubles as the goalkeeper trainer for both the Amazons and the Falconets.
It might interest you to know that the Super Falcons players from Nasarawa Amazons, who were invited to play the recent friendly game against Fennecs of Algeria , and Les Bleues of France Women’s Teams, which include, Mathias Josephine,Isah Sikiratu, Unachukwu Udoka,Yina Adoo, Akerekoromwei Janet and Ojiyovwi kesiena, were also given special recognition by the Governor as well.
Nasarawa Amazons defeated Bayelsa Queens in 7-6 penalties after a goalless draw to win the Besty Obaseki Women football pre-season tournament at the Samuel ogbemudia Ogbemudia stadium, Benin, Edo State.
The Governor promised to always support Nasarawa Amazons FC, and sports generally in Nasarawa State.
