Bayelsa State Table Tennis Chairman Pledges More Support for Sports Development

The chairman of the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association, Mr. Ama-ebi Ebikpolade Stow says he is committed to the development of the youths in the state through sports.

Mr. Ebikpolade in an interview with pressmen  stated that the association is committed to the progress and development of the youths who intend to earn a living through sports, stating that the welfare of the athletes remains his priority.

According to him, sports and education remain his focal areas because the two sectors have the capacity to take the youths away from drugs, criminality and other social vices that are capable of destroying their lives

He noted that apart from the lads playing table tennis, the association has ensured that they have something to fall back on after retirement, and has sent some of the athletes to the Benson Idahosa University with some recently enrolled in the Niger Delta University, NDU Amasoma.

Reflecting on the successes recorded on the just concluded 3rd Gov Diri National Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa, Mr. Ama-ebi noted that the idea to sponsor a team in the championship was to compliment the efforts of the president of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Dr. Daniel Igali who doubles as commissioner for sports in the state, describing wrestling as a traditional sports for the Ijaw people.

Mr. Ama-ebi who doubles as the south south zonal representative in the board of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, noted that his desire to support the wrestling federation was as a result of his passion for the development of sports, noting that he would continue to invest in the development of sports.

The NTTF zonal boss appreciated the Nigeria Wrestling Federation for bestowing him with an award for his consistent and exemplary commitment to the development of wrestling and sports in Nigeria, pointing out that he was grateful for the award and the show of love.

He thanked the sports duo of Senator Douye Diri and his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for giving premium attention to the sports sector in the last five years of the prosperity administration.

The CEO of Ama-ebi consultant equally lauded the commissioner for Sports Development, Dr Daniel Igali and chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the classics, Mr. Ono Akpe for translating the governor’s vision to reality.
