Oyo cyclists Ajibade Ibrahim and Akinola Destiny achieved remarkable victories in the Under 18 and Under 15 male categories at the third Ibadan Cycling Competition at Ibadan.
Ajibade Ibrahim clinched first place in the 20km road race with an impressive time of 34:21.
He was followed by Wale Aina, who finished in 34:40, and Ikatt Victor, who came in third with a time of 35:11. In the Under 18 female category, Ikatt Eunice secured first place, followed by Azeez Medinat and Olawale Peace.
In the Under 15 female category, Obadara Adeola, Azeez Asanat, and Aminu Olamide claimed the top three positions. Akinola Destiny won the 16km road race in the Under 15 male category, finishing with a time of 30:32, just ahead of Arogundade Mujeeb, who clocked in at 30:65.
Younger cyclists also shined, with Adam Bello and Aminu Olamiposi winning the 10km race for Under 10 male and female categories, respectively.
In the Under 5 category, Hamzat Adam and Ajibade Fatia took the top spots in the 5km race for male and female competitors. The event attracted 120 cyclists from Oyo, Osun, Lagos, and Ogun states and was organized by Lapet Feats in collaboration with the Oyo State Cycling Association.
The goal was to discover and develop cycling talents across the South-West region.
Convener Adebayo Olawale expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success, stating, “I’m thrilled to see what we have accomplished in promoting young cycling talents.
” The competition was fiercely contested, allowing participants to identify their strengths and weaknesses.”
Looking forward, Olawale mentioned, “In 2025, we aim to further enhance the discovery and development of cycling talent in Oyo State by building on our strengths, addressing weaknesses, and expanding our initiatives.
