Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, the Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), recently embarked on an inspection tour of various projects within the council.
On Wednesday, he commenced the inspection of some of the completed and ongoing projects undertaken by his administration since assumption of office in 2022.
The projects inspected included: completed 1.5 kilometers road and rural electrification with 500 kva transformer at Kugbo village, ongoing construction of 600 meters road at Nyanya-Agwa Hausa and inspection of abandoned healthcare clinic facility at Nyanya village.
Other projects inspected by Mr Maikalangu were 600 meters ongoing road construction at Nyanya Federal Housing Estate, ongoing construction of 800meters road and completed Solar powered boreholes at Nwakpwa village in Karu community.
Also, Jikwoyi Phase 1, 2, 3 road projects with solar streetlights, 2.5km Kpeyegyi phase 2 access road, completed road at Oronzo were inspected.
Karshi town road projects were not left out as the the chairman inspected 650 meters of ongoing constructed road, rural electrification of Gasaki Cheta community with 33 kva transformer, Completed LEA Primary School at Wassa community.
Others included fencing of Takushara community market and 1.20 kilometers road at the same community including other completed roads at Kabusa village within the AMAC.
Briefing the journalists, the AMAC chairman expressed satisfaction at the contractors progress in completing some roads within the given time frame.
He, nevertheless, expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of road project at Jikwoyi Phase 2 as part of the road was already deteriorating just few months after its completion.
Maikalangu emphasized the importance of verifying the quality of work done, stating “As you can see today, I am the most happiest person because the job executed in our council are all before us as you can see it.
“I choose today to inspect the whole projects to make ensure that what I am signing in the office is seen, not just to sign, give money to the people without seeing the job and that’s why I have to come to see the job myself.
He praised his contractors, giving them a 90% satisfaction rating, but noted that a few have yet to meet expectations and by the grace of God, they will complete the remaining parts, ” he said.
During the inspection, the Chairman also addressed the abandoned healthcare clinic facility at Nyanya, ordering its demolition to make way for a modern healthcare clinic .
He had ordered for the pulling down of the old structure so as to rebuild it to the latest standard.
“That healthcare facility has been there for some years and I don’t like the structure. I have authorised my department of works to pull it down, we want to build the latest healthcare clinic, ” he assured.
Meanwhile, members of the communities within the area, thanked the chairman for his good works.
Community members, including Mr. Emmanuel Uko from Jikwoyi, thanked Maikalangu for his efforts in delivering significant projects within the council.
