Flamingos Coach Vows to Bring Home FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Trophy

Nigeria’s Under 17 Women’s National Team, the Flamingos, head coach Bankole Olowookere has promised that the team will not return home empty-handed from the 2024 FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup, which begins on October 16.

“We refuse to go back home empty-handed. We must get something back home, whatever it costs,” Olowookere assured Nigerians. “Our slogan is to make Nigerians happy and proud of our performance till the end of the competition.”

Bankole Olowookere expressed confidence in his team’s ability to go all the way, saying, “We are planning and working hard to get the gold for Nigeria. We believe in God, and we will come home with the trophy by His grace.”In an interaction with the Nigeria Football Federation X handle on Monday.

Nigeria, who has participated in every edition of the competition are in group A alongside host Dominican Republic, New Zealand, and Ecuador.

Nigeria will kick start their campaign on the opening day, Wednesday 16 2024 against New Zealand on Wednesday, at the Estadio Cibao FC, Santiago de los Caballeros.

Nigeria finished in the semifinals of the previous edition in India, the country’s best attempt yet.

The 2024 edition of the FIFA Under 17 Women’s  World Cup will run for three weeks beginning from October 16 to November 3, 2024.

Coach Olowookere’s assurance comes as the team prepares to kick-start their campaign against New Zealand on October 16.
