Nasarawa Football Club of Lafia today at the University of Benin Sports Complex won Edo Queens of Benin 5 – 4 on a penalty shoot out in the Semifinal game of the ongoing Betsy Obaseki Woman Football Pre-season tournament in Benin City.
The game which was a highly contested match, the Lafia landladies got their first goal in the first minute of kickoff from a defensive blunder made by the defense line of the queens of Benin, while Chioma Moses levelled up for Edo Queens in the 16th minute. And which brings the end of the first half at 1-1.
Second came on the way as in the 50th minute Ijamilusi Folashade got the lead goal for Edo Queens while Akekeromowei Janet of Nasarawa Amazons got the equalizer for her team in the 63rd minute of the game from the spot.bringing scores to 2 – 2.it remained like that till the end of the semifinal game.
The game was tension soaked as fans were thrilled with a good football display.
After 90 minutes of action the match ended in a thriller 2-2 and the game went into a penalty shoot out.
Edo Queens took the first kick and lost it, Nasarawa Amazons took it and lost it also.
At the end of the encounter Edo Queens scored four goals and Nasarawa Amazons scored five.
Edo Queens will play a third place match against Heartland Queens FC, while Nasarawa Amazons will take on Bayelsa Queens in the finals.
