Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu , was over the moon as he watched the Super Eagles clinch a hard-fought victory against Libya in their match day 3 of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
He was at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, Akwa-Ibom state, alongside Hon. Kabiru Amadu Mai Palace, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, to cheer on the team.
Shaibu took to his personal social media handles to express his joy and pride, saying, “It was a sweet victory for the boys against the Mediterranean Knights at the Nest of Champions!” The win, courtesy of Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s late goal, not only put smiles on the faces of Nigerians but also secured the Super Eagles’ position at the top of their group with 7 points.
As a passionate football fan and supporter of the Super Eagles, nothing gives Shaibu more joy than seeing his boys thrive. He’s particularly proud of Amas Obasogie, the team’s third-choice goalkeeper, and Tanimu B.
