As Nigeria joined the rest of the world to celebrate Customer Service Week, the National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli has called on heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to celebrate their workers who have contributed immensely to create impact at places of work.
The SERVICOM boss made the call at an event to mark the Week Celebration at the Agency’s Head Office in Abuja.
Akajemeli said that it was pertinent for Nigerians, particularly those who are committed to their work, to be celebrated and recognised for their dedication to duty in the spirit of the week.
“Customer service week celebration is an event that takes place all over the world in the private sector as well as the public sector.
“It is a time set aside to celebrate those who make services happen, and for us in Nigeria we have keyed in and we have been doing this for the past five years on every first week of October.
“We encourage CEOs, Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, heads of organisations to celebrate service providers, staff of their offices who are dedicated to their work.
“They should celebrate staff members who bring a lot of value to bare in the course of delivering service to the people, ” she said.

The SERVICOM boss said that the goal for the celebration was to touch the life of Nigerians and stakeholders more, especially those who had gone extra mile to execute their services beyond expectations.
She said that the period offered opportunity for organisations to demonstrate to customers on their dedication to good work and to thank them for roles they have played to improve service delivery.
“We need to think of repositioning stakeholders, especially celebrating those who go above and beyond to do their work”.
Participants at the event used the occasion to extol the SERVICOM boss for her innovative ideas which had changed the narrative for service delivery in MDAs.
Mr Abdul El-Zaki, Deputy Director, Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement, Ministry of Health, lauded Akajemeli for her excellent job to ensure that MDAs live up to expectations.
“Madam SERVICOM, I have to say to you and your able team, your commitment, your energy, your dedication to service delivery is well recognised by Nigerians.
“Your legacy in SERVICOM will continue to be written in gold.
“ The period you have served as the coordinator of SERVICOM has witnessed a lot of innovation and changes in service delivery ” .

Mrs Asiya Atta, an informal staff in the office, lauded the management of SERVICOM and Akajemeli for identifying people of their categories to appreciate and recognise for their efforts.
“I want to thank madam for everything she has done for us here.
“She recognises everyone as a staff irrespective of status.
“I am a cleaner here at SERVICOM office, I used to come in the morning from 6 a. m. to 7 a. m. depending the level traffic jam.
“I do not take my work lightly because I make my living through the work and I am dedicated to my work because I pay my children’s school fees and feeding from it”.
