The Nigerian Flying Eagles took to the training pitch on Friday morning, kicking off an intense preparation phase under the watchful eyes of Coach Aliyu Zubairu and his experienced assistants.
The team has settled into their final camping programme at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, with the technical crew utilizing the facilities to fine-tune strategies.
According to Sharif Abdallah, Media Officer on Friday said that the Flying Eagles had a productive morning training session focus on fitness and freshness.
“ The morning training session, which lasted for 1 hour and 30 minutes, focused on light drills and tactical play, aimed at fine-tuning the team’s strategy and building player cohesion.
“ The players displayed high spirits and dedication throughout the morning session, eager to give their best and make Nigeria proud.
“ In line with the medical team’s advice, the players will have adequate rest and recovery time to avoid fatigue and prevent injuries.
“ This careful approach ensures the team remains fresh and ready for the challenges ahead, ” he said.
He also stated that ,after this morning session, there is going to be a rest in the evening for players as another test game is scheduled to take place on Saturday.
This comprehensive fitness program complements the on-pitch training, enhancing overall player performance.
The Flying Eagles will tackle Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire in a three-team Group B, in their quest to defend the title they won in Niger Republic two years ago.
Hosts, Togo will battle Ghana, Benin Republic and Niger Republic in Group A of the competition that is scheduled for October 17th to October 31st.
The Group Stage for WAFU B Under 20 Championship in Togo will commence from 17th October to 24th October , Semi-finals from 27th October and final on 31st October .
The championship in Togo serves as the qualifying tournament for next year’s Africa Under 20 Cup of Nations, from where the top-placed four teams will qualify to fly Africa’s flag at next year’s FIFA Under 20 World Cup finals in Chile.
