Delta’s female hockey team edges out Osun 1-0, as their male counterparts cruise to a 3-0 victory against Ondo
Delta female hockey team of Delta State secures a narrow 1-0 win over their counterparts Osun in the ongoing 2024 National Youth Games, (NYG) hockey event at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
The 8th National Youth Games, (NYG), Asaba 2024’ started on Thursday , 12th September to 19th September 2024 at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State.
Earlier on the girls had drew Edo team 1-1 their male counterparts ( Delta Boys ) however played with their Borno State opponents 1-2.
Delta girls have won one match and drew one so far and are self assured to successfully win the title, while Delta’s boys have won two.
Adeoye Jacobs, the coach of Delta Team praised his team for a job well done.
Jacobs who is also the coach for the male teams, said his teams are doing well in the competition.
“ Our teams are doing well, so far so good their performances is encouraging and are yet to lose any in the competitions.
“I am impressed about my teams performance , in both the female teams and male teams and we are in pools B .
“ And I hope that as others matches unfold , we hope to do better. The officiating is good and the atmosphere is conducive.
“ We will continue to remain focus , and tighten our belt well in this competition and we are determined to win gold.,” he said.
Delta Female will now take on the Kaduna State today ( Sunday).And our last group match is on Monday against Nasarawa State by 8.50am in pools B.
While the male against Nasarawa State and their last match is Bayelsa by 1pm on Monday in pools B.

Adamawa vs Bauchi 0-1
Delta vs Edo 1-1
Osun vs kaduna 0-1
Plateau vs Lagos 1-3
Imo vs Adamawa 3-2
Nasarawa vs Edo 0-2

A total of 16 States are participating
The states in the female category are:
Adamawa , Kaduna , Nasarawa ,Delta Edo, Imo,Plateau, Bauchi ,lagos and Osun.
The male category are:Niger,Abia, Adamawa,Kaduna,Ekiti, Borno , Nasarawa, Ondo,Bayelsa, and Delta.
