Nigeria’s Flora Ugwunwa has won  silver medal in women’s Javelin F54, finishing  second  with a throw of 19.26m on Saturday at 2024 Paralympic Games in France.

Flora Ugwunwa records the fourth medal for Nigeria in Paralympic Games holding in Paris.

She finished second in the women’s F54 Javelin throw event with a highest throw of 19.26m to claim silver, behind Uzbekhi’s Kurbanova Nurkhon who threw 21.12m to set a new World Record.

The Uzbekhi exerted her revenge on the Nigerian after finishing second in the event 4 years ago.

This will be Ugwunwa’s 3rd Paralympics showing after winning Gold medals in the Tokyo 2020 and Rio de Janeiro 2016 editions. In Rio, Ugwunwa set a Paralympic Record of 20.25m, one that was smashed by Kurbanova today.

The 44-year old Salehi Elham from the Islamic Republic of Iran finished third with a 16.24m highest throw.

Nigeria now have four medals at the games comprising Gold, two Silver and Bronze.
