Chosen Generation Angels poised to make statement in debut NWFL Championship campaign
For the first time in its history, Chosen Generation Angels will compete in the NWFL Championship, marking a significant milestone for the Ogun State-based team in Calabar, Cross River State.
The Chosen earned their place in the second-tier women’s football league after a successful campaign in the NWFL Nationwide in 2023.
Boasting a squad rich in young talent, including players as young as 13 and 14, Chosen Generation Angels is ready to make a bold statement despite facing more experienced teams.
And the club’s Proprietor and Chairman, Victor Agbagu, is confident in their potential to compete fiercely.
“We are coming with young players who are eager to prove themselves,” Agbagu told www.thenwfl.com.
“Experience is important, but our young squad has the enthusiasm and skill to make a difference. We are not just here to gain experience; we want to make a statement.”
To prepare for their debut season, the team participated in the Super 8 of the 2024 Women’s Accredited Football Academy (WAFA) League in Ikenne.
This experience was crucial in honing their skills and strategies, ensuring they are well-prepared for the NWFL Championship.
“Chosen Generation is preparing well,” Agbagu continued.
“We have strengthened the squad with a few new players and the girls have been in camp since last year. Our involvement in the WAFA League Super 8 has been vital in our preparation for the NWFL Championship.”
While the primary focus is on securing their position in the league, Agbagu remains optimistic that strong performances could lead to promotion.
“Our goal is to maintain our place in the league, but we are prepared to seize any opportunities that come our way. Each game will present its own challenges, and we are ready to face them head-on,” he concluded.
A successful promotion for Chosen Generation would add them to the list of privately owned teams in the, which includes FC Robo Queens, Remo Stars Ladies, Dannaz Ladies, and Naija Ratels FC.
