CECAFA kicks off CAF Women’s Champions League 2024 Zonal Qualifiers in Ethiopia
Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA ) has kicked off the CAF Women’s Champions League 2024 Zonal Qualifiers in Addis Ababa’s Abebe Bikila Stadium in Ethiopia to determine the East African team to qualify for the finals later this year.
The CECAFA Women’s Championship (senior women’s national teams) Qualifiers will run from August 17 to August 29 , 2024.
Among the eight participating teams is Simba Queens of Tanzania, who emerged victorious in the 2022 CECAFA Qualifiers and are now eyeing another strong performance to advance in this significant final tournament.
Simba Queens participated in the 2022 edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco where they reach the knockout stage losing to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in semifinals.
Three different clubs have qualified for the Finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League from the CECAFA Region including Kenya’s Vihiga Queens (2021) and Tanzania’s JKT Queens (2023).

Rayon Sport (Rwanda)
The eight participating teams are divided into two groups.
CECAFA aims to promote and develop football in the region, while fostering unity and cooperation among its member associations.
CECAFA is a regional football governing body that oversees and develops football in East and Central Africa. It was established in 1927 and is affiliated with FIFA and CAF.
