The Niger Tornadoes, popularly known as the Ikon Allah Boys of Minna, had an exciting opening game for Group B on Monday in the city of Abuja.
They defeated CONAC FC of Nasarawa 2-0 in their inaugural game at the Area 3 football pitch, marking a brilliant start to the 2024 Unity Pre-Season Tournament.
Olawale Emmanuel Ayodele opened the score, then Mohammed Hussaini increased the advantage with a masterfully performed free kick to make up for his earlier missed penalty.
The club persevered despite squandering numerous scoring opportunities, most notably in the first half when Akintunde Azeez’s attempt struck the crossbar.
Ayodele, who came on as a replacement in the second half, also hit the post before scoring.
In their next match, the Ikon Allah Boys will take on 2YK-19 FC of Abuja on Tuesday in an attempt to continue their winning streak.
Conversely,Like Minds FC of Gwagwalada defeated Atlantic Integral FC of Suileja
2-2.
In the other Group A encounter, Nasarawa United FC triumphed 2-1 over Ejike Ugboaja FC .
Group A comprises Nasarawa United FC of Lafia, Atlantic Integral FC of Suileja, Like Minds FC of Gwagwalada, Ejike Ugboaja FC of Abuja, and CKD FC of Abuja.
Group B is made up of the AC Midlands of Jos, EFCC of Abuja, Niger Tornadoes of Minna, 2YK -19 FC of Abuja, and CONANC FC of Nasarawa.
